Manager and Supervisor 6 Day OHS Training Course

Goal:
The goal of the course is to provide managers and supervisors with the knowledge and skills to assist them to fulfil their duties and responsibilities under the OHS Act 2004 and OHS Regulations 2007 and provide a basic understanding of return to work in their workplace.

Aims:
The training course has been designed to supply basic information and skills required for managers and supervisors to identify hazards, implement control measures, consult with employees to resolve health and safety issues and to assist injured workers to successfully return to work. The course will also provide managers and supervisors with:

  • a basic understanding of the OHS Act 2004, OHS Regulations 2007, and part VI of the Accident Compensation Act 1985,
  • understand their role and legal duties,
  • understand the role and assistance other key workplace parties can provide,
  • knowledge of where and how to obtain assistance in dealing with hazards and dangerous situations,
  • an understanding of the role of occupational health and safety in the workplace in the prevention of incidents, injury and illness.

Successful attendance and participation in the course will not deem the manager or supervisor to be ‘sufficiently competent’ or to have fulfilled their legal duties under the OHS legislation. Attending a training course is not the only way a person can develop competencies and fulfil legal duties under the Victorian OHS legislation.
