Manager and Supervisor 1 Day OHS Extension Course

Goal:
The goal of the course is to update managers and supervisors knowledge and skills to assist them to fulfil their duties and responsibilities under the OHS Act 2004 and OHS Regulations 2007.

Aims:
The training course has been designed to extend the knowledge of managers and supervisors who have recently attended a 5 day initial level OHS training course for Health and Safety Representatives. The course will provide managers and supervisors with a basic understanding about:

  • role and legal duties
  • consultation and issues resolution
  • the importance of providing OHS information, instruction, training, support and supervision to all employees.

Successful attendance and participation in the course will not deem the manager or supervisor to be ‘sufficiently competent’ or to have fulfilled their legal duties under the OHS legislation. Attending a training course is not the only way a person can develop competencies and fulfil legal duties under the Victorian OHS legislation.

Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:
  • Outline your role and responsibilities as managers or supervisors.
  • Understand how the skills of consultation, active listening, issue resolution and being proactive may be utilised to achieve the OHS and RTW objectives of the manager/supervisor role.
  • Determine, implement and monitor OHS control measures
  • Explain the importance of providing information, instruction, training, support and supervision to all employees.
