Initial Level OHS Training For Health and Safety Representatives
This 5 day training course is specifically designed for Managers, Supervisors and Health & Safety Representatives (HSRs), Human Resource Managers and anyone with a responsibility under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004. The course equips students with the skills for effectively dealing with OHS issues in the workplace.
- HSRs: will gain knowledge and skills that will enable them to effectively represent the members of a designated work group.
- Managers & Supervisors: will better understand there workplace responsibilities and be able to manage health and safety in the workplace.
Courses are conducted at our premises, 12 Kingsley Close, Rowville VIC 3178 every Tuesday & Thursday night between 6pm – 10pm, – numbers permitting.
Content:- Understanding the modern approach to OHS.
- Understanding of the OHS legislation and standards.
- Being aware of employer and employee roles and responsibilities, including HSRs and OHS committees.
- Understanding OHS consultation and issue resolution.
- Identifying hazards, such as manual handling, noise, asbestos, chemicals and falls
- Controlling risks
- Notifying and investigating incidents.
- Conducting workplace audits and inspections.
- Learning ergonomics and manual handling.
- Being aware of psycho-social workplace issues, such as drugs, alcohol, bullying, occupational violence and infectious diseases.
- Understanding the role of the Victorian WorkCover Authority (WorkSafe).
- Understanding safety management systems.
